In celebration of Women’s History Month, and in special recognition of the 1917 history of the Occoquan Workhouse and the suffragist’s movement, the Workhouse Arts Center presents Women Interpreting the Female Form Juried Exhibition from March 2-27. Raphael Fitzgerald, curatorial assistant and exhibition coordinator at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, juried the art submitted by women.

Soul Poetry (see image above) from the Goddess Soul series is one of the two pieces that was juried into this show.

This exhibition, curated by Picture That, LLC   showcases a body of work that tells the story of the strength of women, and illustrates where they have played a crucial role in six important movements throughout U.S. history including the following: 1.  Labor Movement, 2.  Women’s Suffrage Movement, 3.  Civil Rights Movement, 4.  Women’s Rights Movement, 5.  Environmental Movement and 6.  GEN X, Y, Z Movement.  I am one of 20 artists selected from a national juried submission to be a part of this exhibition.  Memories I and Freedom Has Wings I (see above) were selected for this exhibition.
