Washington Project for the Arts had a great kick-off to SELECT 2013 auction exhibition on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at their temporary exhibition site, located on the 6th floor of 64 New York Avenue, NE in the NoMA section of Washington, DC.  Collectors, art enthusiasts, and artists visited the vast space for the first time to view the art for auction up close and personal.  I enjoyed connecting and re-connecting with fellow artists, friends and family during the opening.   Approximately 100 artists were selected by guest curators from institutions such as The Phillips Collection, The Corcoran Gallery of Art,  The Smithsonian Portrait Gallery and The Reginald F. Lewis Museum of  Maryland African American History and Culture.  Proceeds of the auction sales will support WPA’s programs for artists in the Washington, DC community.
