Saturday Rituals…

In the cover of morning
before anyone woke
"Don't tell your sister !"
He whispered
It's Saturday....
before the good cartoons came on
Dutifully seated, by his side,
riding off into
the morning sun,
skinny brown legs in knee socks
Two braids
eyes shining, big grin
Cause Daddy always makes her laugh
and she feel like a princess
she is his favorite afterall
in a magical kingdom all their own
with hamburgers, french fries
and ice cream with a cherry on top
but hide the glow, my love
and all the words
planted within..
lifelong seeds
When we get home.

It’s here…Moon Rising in Capricorn

"And by the way,
everything in life is writable
about if you have the outgoing guts
to do it, and the imagination to improvise.
The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.

-Sylvia Plath

My first chapbook of poetry of which some has already been featured on this blog is now printed. Moon Rising in Capricorn is a collection of poetry and prose by Yours Truly that explores a “Karmic Soul Connection” between two people who met early in life where a fire was lit for a more intense connection later in adulthood. This encounter unveiled an awakening about joy, unconditional love, and the power of art as a healing medium.

There are 22 original poems that were written between March 2018 and September 2019. The poetry chronicles the contemporary relationship with a sense of reclamation of personal power in the end.

I never set out to write this chapbook…the idea actually didn’t take hold until July of this year when I discovered the number of poems I had written during the time period. I started floating the idea in my head and sharing with a few other close friends about actually putting a chapbook together.

The beauty of the process was that I gained the courage to try another creative medium to express an intriguing story and realize a dream of actually composing a book of poetry that I have had for as long as I could remember. It took a lot of courage, strength and support to make this happen and I am very proud of the final product.

This poetry book at this time is only available on a very limited edition basis and will largely be shared via select open mics, private readings and a few on this blog. The purpose of sharing this is to inspire others that you too can realize a creative dream, no matter how big or small and that there is an important lesson in every situation which can be the muse for creating a work of art for healing and self expression.
